Freddy gets ready to make a go at the sunflower seed feeder.
He's got to run down the rope, and cross over several feet of plastic pipe and a garage door sprint to get there, but he's done it before, so he knows it's possible.

The spring is there to deal with the wind moving the trees around (this is Florida after all), and the rope was threaded through a length of PVC pipe as an anti squirrel device that would spin and throw off the squirrels as they tried to walk on the pipe. 
'Turns out the squirrels figured they could simply run and get across the pipe before the pipe could rotate and throw them off, and the spring was wide enough for them to run on and still keep their balance after crossing the pipe.

These guys are smart and it's almost implossibe to stop them from getting to the bird/squirrel feeder!
