Ontem mostrei para vocês fotos com um animal na casa de um João-de-Barro. Hoje, pela manhã, estive no mesmo local para tentar definir que tipo de animal é esse. Fiz uma série de fotos e vou mostrá-las para vocês todos. Espero que vocês me ajudem, mas vou dar a minha opinião: eu acho que é um Gambá. Vejam toda a série aqui, a seguir.
Yesterday I showed you photos with an animal in a João-de-Barro's house. Today, during the morning, I was at the same local trying to define what kind of animal is this. I took a series of photos and i'll for all of you. I hope you'll help me, but i'll give you my opinion: I think it's a Skunk. See all the series following here.

1. FICHA DO BICHO:

Nomes vulgares: Gambá. Mucura ou gambá (Amazônia e Brasil Meridional); sarigué, sariguê, saruê ou sarigueia (Bahia); timbú ou cassaco (Pernanbuco ao Ceará); micurê (Paraguai e Mato Grosso); comadreja overa; e large american opossum ou opossum (EUA).
Nome científico: Didelphis albiventris (Lund, 1840).
Origem do Nome:O termo popularizado gambá, originou-se da língua tupi-guarani, onde "gã'bá" ou "guaambá", corresponde a um seio oco, ou seja, uma referência ao marsúpio (característica única dos marsupiais, onde uma abertura ventral em forma de bolsa, abriga em seu interior, mamas, onde os filhotes nutrem-se e protegem-se durante parte de seu desenvolvimento).
Ordem: Marsupialia (Marsupiais)
Família: Didelphidae (Didelfídeos)
Gênero: Didelphis spp.
Espécie: Didelphis albiventris (Lund, 1840) é o gambá-de-orelha-branca. Além da espécie citada, existem no Brasil mais três espécies de didelfídeos que pouco se diferenciam entre si, são elas:
- D. aurita (Wied-Neuwied,1826) - gambá-de-orelha-preta;
- D. marsupialis (Linné,1758);
- D. paraguaiensis (Oken,?).
Nos EUA e no México, pode ser encontrada mais uma espécie, a D. virginiana ou gambá-americano. Favor não confundir com o cangambá (Mephitis mephitis), que embora pareça semelhante, não é um marsupial, pois corresponde a Ordem Carnívora (carnívoros) e família Mustelidae (Mustelídeos).
