The Sunbeam Works, Paul Street, Wolverhampton 11/07/2015

            This is a very well known Black Country industrial land mark, the former Sunbeam works at Paul Street, Wolverhampton.

The Sunbeam brand came into existence in 1888 when John Marston began manufacturing cycles in Wolverhampton.

Throughout it's history Sunbeam manufactured most forms of transport, including aircraft, trolleybuses, buses, cycles, cars, world land speed record car, and aero engines. The last cars to carry the Sunbeam name were manufactured by Chrysler in the 1980s.

The Sunbeam name has not been used since, but such is it's incredible heritage that it will almost certainly do so at some point in the future. Certainly the name Rapier, so often associated with Sunbeam is regularly used by Peugeot.

Fortunately this historic and important factory has survived, and is now being turned into a complex of 111 apartments.
