A Face that only a Mother could Love # 1

            This Coot chick has just been given something to eat by its attentive mother whilst its sibling is close by being attended to by dad. 

I spent over an hour photographing these coots and watching mum and dad foraging for food. Every now and again dad would wander off, either up or down the river attending to perimeter defence.

 It was fun watching the two chics walking quickly across the lily pads to get to the food and each chick has a dot of white near the tip of their beak.
