G-ASGF British Airways Super VC-10 taxies for a 28R departure at London Heathrow

My penultimate VC-10 slide / transparency scan to upload!
Just 28 scans of the wonderful VC-10s uploaded to Flickr - such a great aircraft!

The beautiful sleek lines of the Super VC-10!
G-ASGF is seen here in the blue light of a late winter afternoon, approaching the threshold of runway 28R at London Heathrow on flight BA121 (to Africa?) To the right, in the take-off queue is the distinctive nose of unique liveried Boeing 747 G-BDPZ which was leased by British Airways from Aer Lingus between March 1976 and May 1981 [see comments section below]

For some unknown reason, I only took a handful of photos of the BA VC-10s, towards the end of their lives. I guess, like the Tridents, they just seemed too common at the time!

G-ASGF c/n 856 - Vickers Super VC-10-1151 - delivered new to BOAC in April 1965, incorporated into the British Airways fleet some nine years later. The aircraft flew with BA for another seven years or so, before being sold to the RAF as ZD234 in 1981. The aircraft was one of those initially stored at RAF Abingdon and unfortunately was never to fly again, being broken up for spares in 1982.
