Eastern Bloc double 😎 :) CCCP-86622 Aeroflot Ilyushin Il-62M lines up for a runway 28L departure at London Heathrow operating flight SU242 to Moscow

Soviet aviation memories from a collection of some 80 slides of Soviet-built aircraft that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.

The graceful lines of CCCP-86622 - one of the regular fleet of Ilyushin Il-62Ms that Aeroflot used on SU241/2 from Moscow into Heathrow, seen approaching the threshold of runway 28L. Note that the aircraft also carries the 'Official Olympic Carrier' titles that Aeroflot used for the Moscow 1980 Olympics. Stage left is the nose of LOT Poland Tupolev Tu-134A SP-LHC on flight LO286 (my next upload :) Typical Zenith 'lighting effects' in the left of the frame 😅

CCCP-86622 c/n 0b4521617 Ilyushin Il-62M was delivered new to Aeroflot in 1975. The aircraft passed to Aeroflot - Russian Airlines in 1993, and was renumbered RA-86622. In July 1994 it transferred to Domodedovo Airlines, and flew with them until the end of 1995 when it was withdrawn as life-expired with the reg cancelled on 29Dec1995. The aircraft was broken up.
