Birmingham Maglev Car 3 - a photo on Flickriver

            The link between Birmingham International railway station & Birmingham Airport was the first public use of Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) technology as a mode of passenger transport, operating from August 1984 to June 1995 when it was replaced by a bus shuttle and the track was eventually converted to a cable driven monorail, reopening in 2003.

One of the original Maglev cars, number 3 built by Metro-Cammell is preserved in the Great Hall at the National Railway Museum in York as seen in this photo.
