Grutto (Limosa Limosa) - a photo on Flickriver

            De grutto (Limosa limosa) is een weidevogel uit de familie strandlopers en snippen (Scolopacidae) van de orde steltloperachtigen (Charadriiformes). De grutto was in de 20ste eeuw een algemene weidevogel, maar gaat sinds de eeuwwisseling door habitatverlies snel achteruit. In 2015 werd de vogel gekozen als nationale vogelsoort van Nederland.

The black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) is a large, long-legged, long-billed shorebird first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. It is a member of the godwit genus, Limosa. There are three subspecies, all with orange head, neck and chest in breeding plumage and dull grey-brown winter coloration, and distinctive black and white wingbar at all times.

La Barge à queue noire, Limosa limosa, est une espèce d'oiseaux limicoles de la famille des scolopacidés (bécassins). C'est l'une des deux espèces de barges vivant en France. Comme de nombreux limicoles c'est une espèce à longue durée de vie (plus de 17 ans parfois pour des oiseaux bagués, par exemple aux Pays-Bas).

Es una de las zancudas europeas más grandes y vistosas, con mucho colorido en el vuelo y con unas largas patas características. Cría en praderas húmedas, y en invierno se la encuentra en zonas acuáticas de interior y litoral, en especial fangosas. Es bastante común en el norte y oeste de Europa; llega a ser local en Escandinavia.
