J20160817-0044—Penstemon azureus—RPBG

            Penstemon azureus—azure beardstongue.  Grows in the Klamath and Siskiyou ranges and south in the Sierra Nevada to Placer County.  The species is found less frequently as far south as Fresno County.  This profuse bloomer in fairly easy to grow in sunny locations in gardens where it attracts hummingbirds.  Photographed at Regional Parks  Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
