Dirty Money - a photo on Flickriver

            There's a great irony when it comes to money in Cambodia. Though they have their own currency - the Riel - the US dollar is also accepted country-wide. 

While US notes need to be perfect - shopkeepers will refused to take them if there's the tiniest rip - local money is abused beyond belief. It's common for kids especially to have small notes balled up in muddy hands all day.

This boy took that to the extreme, pulling this note out of his pocket after two hours of catching fish in a muddy pond. He wasn't bothered at all - after hosing it down, it went onto a rock to dry in the sun.
