All of the Things I Could Have Done With That Hour

            I could have taught my cats guitar
Bought sprinkles at a store
Memorized 42 numbers of Pi
Sewed up all of my sock holes
Thought about making a vegan tiramisu but then deciding not to make it.
Read a 137 page novel or novella
Jumped rope while singing with only two short breaks.
Hiked a small percentage up Mount Everest
Written three poems while sipping Japanese whiskey.
Biked 15 miles along the lake if there wasn't a bad headwind.
Planted 27 crocuses that would never bloom.
Ridden a roller coaster without a line at least 49 times. 
Spun around in a circle exactly to the correct speed of a favorite vinyl record (Right, now, I'm listening to The Kinks album Something Else.)
Climbed a tree and gotten stuck like a big old tabby cat. 
Insisted I did not need help getting out of the tree while strangers gathered around and stared. 
Eaten an entire bowl of ramen while reading a Kenzaburō Ōe novel in the bathtub.
Wondered what would happen if the bubbles in my bathtub never popped and stayed like that as some cool postmodern art project. 
Pictured coral reefs dancing and started to draw one.

There were a lot of things I could have done with that hour but in the end I decided that I had to come to terms with reality and just let it go.
