How Strange it is to be Anything at All

What is it to share a life with someone? What is it to be anything at all....how strange! I have a tattoo that says this, based on the song by Neutral Milk Hotel and it's something I wonder about quite often. Maybe in the future, after us humans have made a mess of things and rendered a physical world uninhabitable, we will instead become bits of collective consciousness in ether and we won't have hands to hold or mouths to kiss. Our conversations will become floating fragments that pass through empty space instead of semicircular canals.

But, we're here right now and we're something in this present moment so we should make the best out of it because bodies are so silly and can betray us at any moment.

There are many secrets to a successful marriage that you've already heard I'm sure...common interests and shared values being a big one but I'll tell you one not many people talk about and that's if you happen to do art as more than just a hobby, find someone like you who lives to create and creates to live. Find a human who cannot exist without making art and lives each day to see what art can be created.

When we're all floating bits of nothingness, some of us will still glimmer like glitter and fall on each other like the corners of sheets on a clothesline.
