The Black Hare (in explore) - a photo on Flickriver

            The ancient oak woodlands of Dartmoor are literally fantasy worlds brought to life. These places are steeped in mysticism and lore and for good reason. I came across this scene last week at a hidden woodland in the heart of the moor. The brain instantly switched into peredoila mode and all I could see was this black hare watching me from among the trees. My brain imagined a woodland spirit taking the form of an animal to gauge my intentions on its territory. 
I have spent the last two Sundays now on the moors in these incredible woodlands and even though its been bloody hard going I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Its really reinvigorated my spirit in troubling times and reaffirmed my beliefs in nature and the spirits that guard over it.
