The Lappet-faced Vulture is the only member of its genus. It is a large species with a wingspan of 2.5 m (over 8 ft) or more. The bill is massive, and ranks among the largest in the entire Accipitridae family. This enables it to process carcasses that other vultures cannot manage. The Lappet-faced Vulture is Endangered.
