Belted Kingfisher male landing, vocalizing

            As in the second part of the binomial, the Belted Kingfisher is associated with the word halcyon which has the meaning of auspicious or successful. There is also a genus Halcyon in the family Alcedinidae. All in all, it’s a good day when you see a Kingfisher! This vocalizing bird is a male; females have a second breast band coloured chestnut.
