Cuxhaven Coast Heathlands - a photo on Flickriver

            An old moraine areal from the last ice age reaching just up to the seaside of the North Sea in the south of Cuxhaven and towards Altenwalde. A greater part of it was a former military training ground.
Too many trees cast out the heather due to intensive shadowing. Single smaller trees are no problem but need to be controlled. Otherwise the Heathlands mutate into groves and forests.
