Shorts Belfast RP-C8020 at Cairns Airport

            Ex RAF Short SC-5 Belfast C.1 XR365 'Hector' sitting at Cairns International Airport. 

Sold to HeavyLift in 1976 as G-HLFT and relocated to Australia in 2003, she was then re-registed as 9L-LDQ (Sierra Leone), before getting her current Philippines registration of RP-C8020. Her final flight was into Cairns in January 2009 and has sat there idle to this day (2019). 

She was put up for sale in 2011 but with no buyer sought, she was thought to be put on the scrapping list. However in 2019, she is still thought to be airworthy, with engine runs having taken place as recently as March 2018. 

Hector is the one of only 2 Belfasts still in existence (the other at RAF Cosford museum) and the only one that is airworthy. -14/11/2019
