School Children in Guatemala, Try a "Go with Gus" Tour

            On a recent visit to Guatemala I was so happy to take a "Go with Gus" humanitarian tour which included visits to two rural primary schools which you can only reach by riverboat. 
      Those kids from kindergarten to about Grade five were so exited to see us come.  I brought a variety of books in Spanish including fairy tails, science and health books.  We also brought art supplies, pencils, paper, basic health items like tooth brushes, soap and some gifts for teachers too.
       Keeping kids in school is so important no matter where you live and alas many countries spend less then ten dollars a year to support the future.  So if you go I highly recommend these tours that also include visits to craft centers, hot springs, fishing villages and much more.  "Go with Gus" sponsors about 20 schools in both Honduras and Guatemala.
    So if you are heading that way on a cruise ship on for a visit to the resorts on the islands look them up on the internet.  You will be so happy you might just cry soulful tears like my wife did.  PS to get good pictures with kids just be friendly and get down to their level..  A smile , a hug , and a song in a universal way of sharing love. Bravo.  Gracias por la vida.
