La maison en arkose et aux volets bleus

            La pierre de Montpeyroux nommée arkose  (famille des grés: feldspathique) a beaucoup servi dans la construction locale dès le XIIe siècle. Cette pierre, est  de nature robuste mais difficile à travailler.
L'ancienneté de l'exploitation de l' arkose de Montpeyroux résulte de son affleurement à l'air libre, ce qui facilitait son exploitation.

Pendant des siècles, les habitants ont vécu de l’exploitation de la carrière d’Arkose, cette pierre qui donne aux maisons des reflets dorés et qui a servi  à bâtir les églises romanes d’Auvergne
