BRONZE-WINGED PARROT Pionus chalcopterus. A flock of wild Bronze-winged Parrots alighted in several Guaba Inga trees parrots began eating the fruit from beanlike Guaba fruit pods in Mindo in northwestern Ecuador on the morning of January 12, 2014 . This Bronze-winged Parrot is gnawing on a Guaba fruit pod.

These wild Bronze-winged Parrots were encountered at the hotel El Descanso in Mindo. El Descanso is managed by its very friendly owner Rodny who is happy to identify birds for the visitor. It is a great place to see hummingbirds in Mindo.

The Bronze-winged Parrot lives in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and northwestern Perú.
