Shaft - a photo on Flickriver

Shaft

A fabulous day up and around Dinorwic taking a friend around who hadn't been before, the weather was forecast as gloomy but that's pretty normal for here and actually works well as long as it isn't pouring down...

As we made our way around the abandoned slate quarry every now and then we got very fleeting breaks in the cloud with patches of sunlight poking through but it was very hard to predict looking at the clouds passing over. At this spot however one big light beam was making it's way across the side of the mountain opposite so I set up just incase it would hit this little cable winding house as it passed by, as if by magic it lit it right up then seconds later was gone again, absolute magic. There was a time later on in the walk where this was happening again and once again I set up waited but it wasn't to be anywhere near the scale of this one or in the right place. We were out for 8.5 hours walking and got some great images to go along with it but this has to be my favourite of the day.
