"Egret Breeding Plumage Triptych" by Patti Deters. Beautiful and feathery plumage, along with their bright green face, make Great White Egrets (Ardea alba egretta) a treat to observe in the spring during courtship, mating, and nesting season. The long feathery breeding feathers (aigrettes) grow from the back, and part of the skin on its face turns a bright neon green which give these birds a beautiful fairy tale look.
