"Pelican Morning" by Patti Deters. A pod of five White pelicans (Pelecanus onocrotalus) stand in shallow water, waking up for the day, and enjoying the morning light. Groups of these large white birds may also be called a pod, pouch, scoop, or squadron. This small flock seemed friendly with each other and were busy with preening and getting ready for the day.
