The Old Mill - a photo on Flickriver

The Old Mill

            One of the most well-known features of the Berry College campus, the Old Mill is a 42-foot overshot wooden water wheel that was built in 1930 by Berry College students.  The mill was operated for many years to grind corn into flour for grits and other southern baking specialties.  The mill-wheel has an iron hub that came from an earlier mining community.  The wooden wheel is still operational and is used on special occasions and flour from the mill can be purchased on campus during these times.
