Valencia is the third largest city in Spain. Valencia is located on the Costa del Azahar on the Mediterranean Sea and is considered the birthplace of paella, one of the most famous dishes in Spanish cuisine. Valencia is also known as the orange city. Valencia is Spain's third economic engine, after Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia was founded in 138 BC. under the name Valentia Edetanorum, by a Roman leader. Valencia has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and very mild winters. Valencia, like the entire region of Valencia, is officially bilingual; they speak both Spanish and Valencian. Valencian is very closely related to Catalan. Spanish Valencia is more than beach and paella.. If you are fond of gastronomy, enjoy the color and taste of fresh products and appreciate the delicious dishes, the variety and the quality of the cuisine, the Mercado Central of Valencia is a paradise not to be missed. Santos Juanes is a Roman Catholic church located next to the Mercado in the Mercat district of the city. The church is also called San Juan del Mercado because of its location next to the central market. In the historic center of Valencia you will find the Cathedral of Valencia, la Catedral de Valencia. At the Plaza de la Reina square in the center of Valencia you will find the main entrance to the Cathedral. In fact, it is not to be missed; it is the largest building on the square. From the outside it is already a picture, but it is certainly worth the effort to view the cathedral and the accompanying museum from the inside.

Valencia is twee na grootste stad van Spanje. Valencia is de derde economische motor van Spanje, na Madrid en Barcelona. Valencia werd gesticht in 138 v.Chr. onder de naam Valentia Edetanorum, door een Romeinse leider. Valencia heeft een mediterraan klimaat met warme zomers en zeer milde winters. Valencia is, net als de gehele regio Valencia, officieel tweetalig; men spreekt er zowel Spaans als Valenciaans. Plaça de la Mare de Déu, ook wel Plaza de la Virgen genoemd, is een van de mooiste pleinen van de stad. Het bevindt zich in het hart van de stad op een strategische locatie waar ooit het Forum Romanum stond, dus laat u inspireren door het verstrijken van de eeuwen en meegesleurd door eeuwenlange geschiedenis. Tegenwoordig nodigt dit voetgangersplein voorbijgangers uit om te pauzeren op een van de stenen banken of te stoppen voor een drankje op een caféterras; op de achtergrond hoor je het geluid van spelende kinderen, stromend water in de fontein en het fladderen van duiven die zich thuis voelen. Maar bovenal komen bezoekers hier om de monumenten te bewonderen. De beroemde Porta dels Apòstols - Deur van de Apostelen van de Santa Maria-kathedraal van Valencia is te zien. El Micalet is een prachtige achthoekige klokkentoren en hoort bij de kathedraal van Valencia. Het is één van de meest bezochte monumenten van de stad. De Kathedraal van Valencia is gebouwd tussen 1262 en 1356. Het gebouw is een ongewone mengeling van romaanse, gotische en barok-stijlen. Hiervoor was er een moskee gevestigd. De kathedraal van Valencia herbergt vele kunstschatten, waaronder diverse schilderijen van Francisco Goya. Hij is echter vooral bekend als bewaarplaats van een heilige graal. Deze kelk, die in 1785 kapot viel maar daarna gerestaureerd is, bevindt zich sinds de 15e eeuw in Valencia.
