LR2832 on the 'field railway' - a photo on Flickriver

            This loco - or, more strictly, this 'trench tractor' - was ordered by the ministry of munitions, with the intention of using it on the War Department Light Railways (WDLR) built during World War One to supply material to the front lines. However, it was dispatched from Motor Rail’s works on 10/12/18, and thus was to late for ”active service”. It is hauling a WDLR Class "D" bogie open wagon. These wagons were built by many manufacturers to the same standard design. The Class 'D' became the standard wagon for trench railway use - being adaptable for almost any purpose.
