What Dreams May Come - a photo on Flickriver

            Ever see the movie "What Dreams May Come"?  This painterly effect reminds me of scenes from the movie.

Twenty years earlier I turned a corner at Arlington Cemetary and started up the last path towards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In March fo 2010 I started up the same path... and this beautiful tree spread out before me.  I suddently remembered that same tree from so long ago.  It's been quietly, patiently, standing here for all those years - likely many more before that.

I wish I could say what kind of tree this is.  Perhaps one of you might know and would be kind enough to post its name.  

Processing this image required Photoshop CS4, Topaz Adjust and Simplify 2 as well as Lucis Art and Nik Color Efex Pro 3.

This is the first image I've really used the Topaz Simplify 2 tool on and must say I really like the results.  It looks like a painted world that's somehow alive.
