The Old Dock, Lake Champlain, Essex, New York

            The Old Dock in Essex New York is a restaurant, but it also happens to be where the ferry crosses from Vermont to New York. I have crossed Lake Champlain on that ferry a few times over the years but never stopped to look around Essex until this winter. I have been there twice recently, and it is a very nice little town. I was lucky to be there at lunch both times and ate at the Pink Pig Boutique & Café. The sandwiches are excellent (maybe even outstanding) and their quiche, according to my wife and a friend, is also excellent. If you get a chance, look around the town and stop in for lunch. The owner, Debbie, seems to know everyone and is very nice! Here ends the free advertisement. I don’t think I have ever endorsed any food places on Flickr before, but finding these little places in New England is one of the bonuses of travelling around with a camera (Chester’s Bakery in Fairfield, VT also makes great lunches, but it is a rural bakery with a few tables).
