Black-crowned Night Heron © - a photo on Flickriver

I walked along the stream beside Culler Lake for over a mile & then back but no BCNH fishing on the stream. Returning to my original position on the far end of the lake, I started taking photos of the herons in the rookery. As I was doing that this particular heron flew down to the lake right in front of me. I quietly sat down on the banks of the lake & took images. This heron was so close I needed only 450 mm of zoom & this frame is the actual frame taken, NO crop whatsoever.
