1Z58 at Honiton

            A few of us walked up to the road bridge at Honiton to Photograph 1036 Western Emperor during our stop on The Western Sunset from Plymouth to Derby. The paintwork was not great but  steam escaping  from the Spanner boiler proves it was working well on this cold late March day. You can see most of the tour participants stayed on the platform or Station footbridge. Although the signalbox is out of view in this image, it was still operational but in 1967 the section from Chard Junction to Phihoe was reduced to single line with a passing loop at Honiton.
