Castle Rocks - Diablo Foothills - a photo on Flickriver

            I was bored this morning and decided to mess around on google earth.  I was looking around my area when I saw these really interesting rock formations at the base of Mt. Diablo.  I had forgotten how incredibly cool google earth is. Seeing some promising clouds in the sky, I decided to head out for a sunset shoot.  

When I got there, I found this hillside adorned with jagged, lichen covered rock formations.  Even better than I hoped.  Unfortunately many of these rocks were covered with graffiti. I can't for the life of me understand why people feel the need to deface natural features with profanity or their names.  Oh wow, "Dave was here" thanks for letting me know Dave.  I'll be sure to let everyone know that Dave was at castle rock, and he took the time to vandalize one of the few wild places left in the bay area. 

Anyway, the sunset was incredibly epic, I found a decent comp.  Life is good.
