Blue Hour -- Moon Rising at Mono Lake, California

            I had just returned to the parking lot after taking a bunch of shots down by the lake and my wife and I were ready to leave. I looked up and saw  that a photographer behind me was set up on a tripod. He was a local and knew this was a special place to see the moon rising. With no time to get my tripod, I took a series of handheld shots. This was the first and I like it best because the moon was beginning its ascent from behind the clouds. I did a major crop to achieve a more dramatic effect.
