Barbara the Brick Ghost - a photo on Flickriver

            Wants you to love her the most.
She isn’t too scary or gross
You can only hear her when you lean in close
listening for wails verbose
more intimate than kin 
against the buildings’ skin. 
(And don’t you dare let her see you sin!)

Just near and dear enough
to heed Barbara cry out
First, a tiny roar 
and then a quiet shout!
“You must believe in me!"
Though, it can’t be too windy or stormy
or her cries will be muffled and ruffled. 

Now, hold still!
Just below the speckled paint
of the window sill
you’ll almost faint 
as you witness Barbara sigh and moan
waiting for the world to be her own. 

Should we believe in her?
