Grundy County, TN Courthouse - Altamonte, TN

            Grundy County was formed in 1844 from Franklin and Warren counties.  Most of the county is atop the Cumberland Plateau, averaging a height of around 1800 feet above sea level.  Many locations in the county offer beautiful vistas and grand waterfalls.  The county seat of Grundy County is Altamont, TN.

In the 20th century, Grundy County earned a reputation for arson.  Over the years, many buildings including a couple of newspaper offices, a school, the L&N Depot in Tracy City, nearly the entire business district of Tracy City were burned by various forms of arson activity.  Additionally, after 105 years standing, the Grundy County Courthouse was destroyed by arson on May 3, 1990.  The current courthouse, seen here, was designed as a replacement by Architect Richard C. Williams.  Construction was completed in 1996 by Peery Construction.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image.  Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.
