BRASS OILER - a photo on Flickriver

BRASS OILER

            A antique brass oiler used for lubrication of machinery. 
These are gravity drip feed oilers, I saw many hit and miss engines with them the day I took this capture.
I find a interest with hit and miss engines for they do not fire and make ignition as your normal engines of today. 

These engines had large heavy flywheels.
The flywheels inertia and speed was regulated by a hit and miss engine. 
So imagine a machine running but the engine only fires here and there not continually. Call it hit when needed and miss when not. 
Very unique, incredibly simple!!
I know a guy who has one attached to a homemade ice cream maker. Man does he draw a crowd for the ice cream and the engine show lol! 
Hardly no noise at all and great ice cream..👍
