Rise Up - a photo on Flickriver

Rise Up

            I have a bit of a photography-fetish for buildings that taper to a point. From the right angles, it looks as if the building is rising up to strike at the sky.

The Melia hotel is right by the European Parliament in Luxembourg, and on this cold, cloudy night it seemed to almost draw in the light pollution into the dark walls. It was almost eerie.

Russell unfortunately forgot to bring along my tripod (what's the point of glamorous assistants when they forget equipment! Bah!). As such, and considering i'm usually so reliant on stability, I think this isn't so bad for a handheld shot at night.

As was customary of the entire trip to Luxembourg, I didn't really end up with the shots I wanted. On the trip to the Parliament area, I had hoped to get some interesting shots of the Philharmonic building. It wasn't to be.
