ICE 4 Nr. 9201 Test- / Veruchszug / Prototyp DB Systemtechnik Minden

            Als ICE 4 bezeichnet die Deutsche Bahn einen Typ der Hochgeschwindigkeitszüge Intercity-Express (ICE) für den Personenfernverkehr, der seit 2017 im Einsatz ist.

 Insgesamt sollen bis zu 300 Züge angeschafft werden. Bis September 2015 wurden die Züge unter ihrem Projektnamen als ICx geführt. Mit der Entwicklung und dem Bau von vorerst 170 Zügen wurde 2011 Siemens Mobility beauftragt. Die Baureihenbezeichnung für die Triebwagen ist 412, wobei die antriebslosen Mittel- und Steuerwagen die Reihenbezeichnung 812 erhalten. Eine zwölfteilige Variante befindet sich seit Dezember 2017 im Regelbetrieb, eine siebenteilige soll ab Dezember 2020 einsatzbereit sein.

Seit 2018 gibt es drei Vorzugsvarianten, die aus einem zwölfteiligen Zug gebildet werden können. Alle drei Varianten sollten 2018 zugelassen werden, um im Folgejahr bei Bedarf zum Einsatz kommen zu können.[23] Im März 2019 wurde Triebzug 9014 versuchsweise mit einem dreizehnten Wagen, einem weiteren Powercar der Baureihe 2412, zwischen Wagen 3 und Wagen 4 ausgerüstet, um damit Testfahrten unter anderem zu Störstrom- und Bremswegemessungen zu absolvieren. Beim ersten komplett als 13-Teiler produzierten Triebzug 9451 befindet sich der gegenüber dem 12-teiligen Triebzug neu hinzu gekommene Wagen 2412 751 hingegen an Position 2 nach dem Endwagen der 2. Klasse. Der erste als siebenteilig geplante Triebzug 9201 wurde für Testzwecke als sechsteiliger Testzug zusammengestellt, bei dem während der Test- und Zulassungsfahrten im März 2019 noch der Wagen 8812 201 (Bistro) fehlte.
