Lakecia Benjamin; Who will marry me? she asked. Montreal Jazz 2024.

            New York City native Lakecia Benjamin (1982) is already a star in jazz world and won many awards. She is charismatic and the audience in Montreal loved her. She felt so good, that she wanted to stay in the city and asked ANY eligible man in the audience to marry her. We locked eyes, but I shook my head. There were no marriage offers, but plenty of appreciation. (Biden did not resign yet, so the possibility of Trump presidency was almost a sure thing). Lakecia Benjamin has electric stage presence and fuses Jazz, HipHop and Soul. From a Dominican neighbourhood in Washington Heights she played merengue, salsa, and other Latin music growing up.

In Montreal Lakecia Benjamin played with Oscar Perez-piano, Elias Bailey-bass, EJ Strickland-drums. 

Benjamin’s shared stages with several legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Christian McBride, Gregory Porter, Clark Terry and wild bunch 'The Roots'.
