♥Instant♥

            L’eau ruisselle sur son visage, glisse sur ses joues, emporte ses larmes avant qu’elles n’aient le temps d’exister. Elle sourit. Un de ces sourires vides, forcés, un masque fragile prêt à se briser au moindre souffle.

Ses lèvres s’étirent, mais son regard la trahit. Elle sait. Elle sait que ce sourire ne trompe personne, pas même son propre reflet flou sur le carrelage trempé. Elle sait qu’au moment où elle coupera l’eau, où elle quittera la chaleur étouffante de cette douche, il n’y aura plus rien pour la protéger.

Alors elle reste là, sous l’eau brûlante, une cigarette entre les doigts. Elle l’allume d’une main tremblante, tire une bouffée, sent la fumée brûler sa gorge avant de s’évanouir dans la vapeur. Mais la flamme ne tient pas longtemps. L’eau ruisselle, insiste, l’étouffe peu à peu, jusqu’à ce que la cendre tombe, que le tabac s’humidifie, que la braise s’éteigne.

Elle regarde la cigarette mourante, ses doigts toujours crispés autour, comme si elle refusait d’admettre qu’elle l’a perdue aussi. Comme si, au fond, tout ce qu’elle touchait finissait toujours par disparaître.

Elle mord sa lèvre, ferme les yeux. Ne pas flancher. Ne pas pleurer.

L’eau continue de couler, l’enveloppant dans son illusion. Là, sous la douche, elle peut encore prétendre que tout va bien. Que ce sourire est réel.

Mais quand elle sortira… il ne restera plus rien. Juste une cigarette éteinte et un cœur en cendres.
