Donald Dewar Is Not Impressed - a photo on Flickriver

On the streets of Glasgow the Statue of Wellington, astride his steed, in front of the Gallery of Modern Art is infamous for the cone on his head (which is sometimes on the horses head and sometimes there are numerous cones, I counted 13 once). Police tried to stop people putting the cone on Wellington's head during the 90s but it cost so much money, with the cone appearing every day, that they decided to leave it be. The cone on Wellington has become a world famous (or infamous) landmark of Glasgow.

This is the first time I saw a cone on the head of Donald Dewar though. Dewar was the inaugural First Minister of Scotland and his statue stands in front of The Royal Concert Hall at the top of Buchanan Street. I just loved that the statue has a naturally dour expression which really suited this and the blue sky makes the green patina and orange cone stand out.
