Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) - male

            Taken in my garden in Northwest Leicester after returning home from my local birding site.
Yesterday we had the two Birch trees in our garden shaped and reduced, the local woodies soon made use of this new vantage point, he never came down to feed as he was moved on by passing gulls.
I managed these shots from the bathroom window which is now  the same height as the Tree's
