The day out - a photo on Flickriver

The day out

            We visited the heights of Abraham recently in the town of Matlock Bath in Derbyshire. It's a tourist attraction with a cable car to take you up there along with various cave tours. As you can see from the photograph the views from the top of the hill are spectacular and we didn't have to climb up here to get them. On the top of the hill, in the middle of the photograph, is Riber Castle perched high on a cliff top valley. I was taking a series of shots of this valley when a family walked into the scene. This would normally have annoyed me when taking a landscape shot but I realised the family were putting the sheer scale of this place into perspective. Their day out made my day out with this fantastic photograph and memory.
