            Preserved 43044 and Mark III carriage stock at the Nottingham Heritage Railway, Ruddington, 21st April 2022.

Locomotive History
43044 was built at Crewe Works and was released in March 1977. It was initially paired with 43045 as part of HST set 253022 for Western Region London – Bristol/South Wales services. 253022 was one of five Western Region HST sets transferred to Midland Main Line duties in 1982 and 43044 has been generally pounding up and down to London St Pancras from the East Midlands and South Yorkshire for the last thirty years. It is now fitted with a Paxman VP185 engine in lieu of its original Paxman Valenta.
