Special:
- The Newport Custom Sedan was part of the fifth generation Newport (1969-1973) designed by Ralph Roberts. It has the distinctive "Fuselage Styling" or „Fuselage-Look“ that would become symbolic of Chrysler's full-size cars until the end of the 1973 model year, built on the Chrysler C-platform.
- It has a three-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission (a three-speed column shifted manual gearbox was optional), a Holley R-6368A carburettor, drum brakes all around, a 87 liter fuel tank and rear wheel drive.
- The were for sale as "Newport" (1969-1971: 128,446 units), as "Royal" (1969-1972: 310,106 units) and as "Custom" (1971-1973), all available in 2- and 4-door hardtops and 4-door sedans and assembled at the Jefferson North Assembly plant (Detroit, Michigan), the Newark Assembly pant (Delaware) or at the Belvidere plant (Illinois) - USA.
- The "Custom" came standard with power steering, power windows, power brakes, a cleaner air system, 59-amp battery, silenced air cleaner, cloth and vinyl bench seats (though the convertibles were done in vinyl), rear seat ashtrays, wheel covers, pull-down center front armrests, carpeted lower door trim panels, padded seat cushions, upgraded interior upholstery materials and bright upper door moldings.
- Available options included 40/20/40 split bucket seats, cruise control, AM/FM 8-track stereo, factory air conditioning, power trunk release, vinyl side body moldings, vinyl roof light group, dual horns, vent-less side glass, pedal dress-up package and a trip odometer.
- Power output would steadily decrease on all engines during this generation due to stricter emissions standards and rising fuel prices.
