RD28655vs. MAD BESS & CHRISTOPHER. - a photo on Flickriver

RD28655vs. RUISLIP LIDO RAILWAY. The 12 inch gauge Ruislip Lido Railway in Middlesex, north west London held a gala weekend on the 3rd, 4th and 5th May, 2025. There was also a special event for members, volunteers, friends, supporters and other invited guests on the Saturday evening and, as an ex volunteer from when I lived in the area, I was delighted to be included.

I had a great time riding on and videoing the trains, many of which were steam hauled. The RLR has it’s own 2-4-0ST+T MAD BESS which is a scaled down 12 inch gauge version of the Ffestiniog Railway's ex Penrhyn Quarry Railway 2-4-0ST+T BLANCHE. There were also two visiting engines, 2-6-2T CHRISTOPHER which was visiting from the Littlehampton Miniature Railway and 2-4-2T VICTORIA which was visiting from the Statfold Barn Railway.

The trains ran until after darkness had fallen and this is CHRISTOPHER and MAD BESS waiting their turn on the turntable at Willow Lawn having just arrived on a train from Woody Bay.
